# Photo EXIF Editor — photoexif.com A free, private, browser-based tool for viewing and editing image metadata. Supports EXIF, XMP, and IPTC fields in JPEG, TIFF, WebP, and PNG files. All processing happens entirely in your browser — your photos never leave your device. --- ## What is photoexif.com? photoexif.com lets you open an image file and read or rewrite the metadata embedded inside it. This includes the technical camera data recorded at the moment of capture, descriptive fields used by search engines and stock libraries, copyright and authorship information, and AI provenance fields defined by the IPTC 2024 standard. It is a single HTML file with no backend, no database, no accounts, and no ads. There is nothing to install. It works in any modern browser on desktop or mobile. --- ## Supported formats - **JPEG** (.jpg, .jpeg) - **TIFF** (.tif, .tiff) - **WebP** (.webp) - **PNG** (.png) Maximum file size: 50 MB. --- ## What you can edit ### SEO Metadata These fields are written to XMP and are read by Google Images, Bing, stock libraries, and content management systems. - **Title** — primary title for search engines - **Headline** — brief publishable synopsis - **Description** — detailed scene description, shown in search snippets - **Keywords** — comma-separated tags - **Creator** — photographer or author name - **Credit Line** — how the image should be credited when published - **Source** — originating wire service, publication, or agency - **Copyright** — rights statement - **Rights URL** — link to the full license - **Star Rating** — quality rating 1–5 ### AI Provenance & Rights These fields follow the IPTC 2024 Photo Metadata Standard and are read by AI crawlers, training pipeline operators, and responsible data miners. - **Digital Source Type** — declares how the image was created: original camera capture, scanned analogue, AI-generated, composite synthetic, CGI, screenshot, or lightly retouched. Uses the IPTC controlled vocabulary. - **AI Training / Data Mining** — explicit opt-in or opt-out for AI training use. Displays tag name, type, count, and decoded value. Searchable. --- ## How it works 1. Drop or select an image file (JPEG, TIFF, WebP, or PNG, up to 50 MB) 2. The tool reads the file in your browser using the JavaScript File API — no upload occurs 3. Edit any fields across the three tabs: SEO & AI, EXIF Fields, Raw View 4. Check the legal confirmation checkbox 5. Click Save & Download — the file is rebuilt with your changes and downloaded to your device Fields that exist in the file are pre-populated. Fields that don't exist yet can be added from scratch. SEO fields (Description, Creator, Copyright) are simultaneously written to both XMP and EXIF to maximise compatibility. --- ## Privacy Your photos never leave your device. photoexif.com does not upload, transmit, or store any image data. There are no cookies, no analytics, no tracking scripts, and no user accounts. The only network request after page load is an optional font stylesheet.
